Hemos tenido una conversación con Lady Gaga Now, una de las webs de Little Monsters más importantes e influyentes a nivel mundial. Hemos tratado muchos temas. Empezando por la historia de cómo se creo el fan-site, el esfuerzo que supone mantener su galería de fotos y hasta los nuevos proyectos que están preparando. También nos hemos detenido en hablar sobre Lady Gaga y su etapa con Cheek To Cheek y su paso por American Horror Story.

Pero sobre todo hemos hablado del nuevo álbum que se estrenará a finales de este 2016. ¿Cuándo saldrá LG5? ¿Qué podemos esperar de este nuevo proyecto? ¿Qué harán Lady Gaga e Intel en Los Grammy?

Sois una de las fuentes de información sobre Lady Gaga más importante para todos los Little Monsters del mundo. ¿Supone una gran responsabilidad tener tantos seguidores?

Your webpage is one of the most important sources of information about Lady Gaga, for all the Little Monsters around the world. Do you feel this is a big responsibility since you have so many followers?

¡Definitivamente! Tener una cuenta de Twitter famosa no tiene nada que ver con la popularidad para nosotros. Lo primero es la responsabilidad hacia el usuario. Proporcionar noticias precisas no es tan fácil como algunos creen. Con “precisas” queremos decir que tenemos que llegar a la fuente principal, tenemos que saber de donde viene esa noticia y si la fuente es fidedigna o no. Por supuesto a veces incluso las fuentes de confianza pueden dar información errónea. ¿Por qué pasa eso? Porque las cosas cambian constantemente en el negocio de la música. Nadie puede estar seguro de algo, ¡Pero por supuesto todo el mundo está haciendo su mejor esfuerzo y nosotros también!

Definitely! Having a big Twitter account isn’t about popularity to us. It’s first of all a responsibility towards our users. Providing accurate news isn’t as easy as it seems to some people. Accurate means that we need to get to the source of it, we need to find where that news came from and if that source is actually trustworthy or not. Of course sometimes even the most trustworthy sources may end up being wrong. Why is that? Because things change constantly in the music business. No one can really be sure about something, but of course everyone is trying their best and so are we!

Nos gustaría hablar sobre vuestros orígenes. ¿Cómo surgió Lady Gaga Now? ¿Cuándo?

We would like to know about your beginnings - how and when did Lady Gaga Now start?

LGN:

Lady Gaga Now se puso en marcha en marzo de 2009 por mi y un amigo. En realidad es una historia divertida. Los dos somos fans de Christina Aguilera y nos dimos cuenta de que por aquel entonces Christina fue acusada de copiar el look de Gaga en los MTV Music Video Awards. Por supuesto que no nos gustaron esos rumores y comentarios llenos de odio hacia Christina, pero luego decidimos darle a Lady Gaga una oportunidad y ver algunos de sus vídeos, y literalmente enamorarnos de Judas. Ahí fue donde empezó todo. A pesar de que mi amigo ya no esté en el equipo, he aprendido mucho de él y le estoy agradecido de todo lo que me enseñó, no estaría aquí de no haber sido por él.

Lady Gaga Now was launched back in March 2009 by me and my friend. It’s actually a funny story. We are both Christina Aguilera fans and at that time we found out about Lady Gaga after Christina was accused of stealing Gaga’s look with her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. Of course we weren’t pleased with the rumors and the hateful comments made about Christina at that time, but then we decided to give Gaga a chance and watched a few music videos and literally fell in love with Judas Dance at first listen. So that’s when it all started. Although he is not in the team anymore, I learned a lot from him and I’m thankful for all the things he taught me as this site wouldn’t be here today without him.

Are the same members of staff who started this project still involved with the webpage?

LGN:

¡No! Mi amigo Edo dejó el equipo hace un par de años para centrarse en su propia web que todavía sigue en marcha. Durante estos años han cambiado muchas cosas. Algunas personas van y vienen, pero les estoy muy agradecido por su contribución.

Nope! My friend Edo left the team a couple of years ago to focus on his own website, which is still running. During all these years a lot has changed, some people come and go but I’m extremely thankful for their contribution to this site.

Quizás vuestra galería de fotos es lo que más os diferencia del resto. ¿Cómo conseguís las fotografías?

Your photo gallery is what really makes your webpage stand out above the rest. How do you obtain these photos?

LGN:

¡Ah! Esa es una cuestión que no puedo contestar correctamente ya que no puedo hablar de ello públicamente. ¡Digamos que tenemos buenos contactos! Me alegro de que la galería sea apreciada. Hay un duro trabajo detrás que nadie lo podría imaginar. Empezado por la plataforma que no es fácil de personalizar, hemos estado siguiendo un formato específico incluso para los nombres de los archivos. Si te fijas, la mayoría de los archivos, menos los primeros años, se llaman 001,002, 003...etc. Es solo algo que hacemos para mantenerlo todo muy organizado.

Ah! That’s a question I can’t properly answer for some reason I can’t explain here publicly. Let’s just say we’ve got very good connections! J I’m glad the gallery is being appreciated. There is so much hard work behind it that no one can really imagine. Starting from the platform itself which isn’t very easy to customize, we have been following a specific format even for filenames. If you notice, most of the photos, except for the first couple of years, are named 001, 002, 003 etc. It’s just something we do to keep everything very organized.

Después de ver el esfuerzo que os supone conseguir y compartir las fotografías de Lady Gaga decidimos prescindir de nuestra propia galería para compartir la vuestra. Aún así, ¿Qué implica para vosotros que dichas fotos después estén en toda la red sin ninguna referencia?

We recognise the time and effort taken to obtain and share photos of Lady Gaga, so much so that we have deleted our photo gallery from our website, in order to share and give credit to your work. That being said, how does it feel when these photos are shared and distributed around the web, without making reference to Lady Gaga Now?

LGN:

Bueno, esta web fue creada para los fans. Ellos son libres para compartir sus fotos favoritas y estoy contento de contribuir en ello. Se que a veces parece "injusto", aunque esa palabra no es adecuada para esto, cuando las imagenes se cogen de nuestra galería y se publican en Twitter por otras webs de noticias. Sin embargo, hemos tratado de explicar la importancia de apoyar la galería para nuestros usuarios y sobre todo las grandes cuentas de Twitter, y debo decir que me quedé impresionado por su reacción. No esperaba tantísimo apoyo, pero estoy extremadamente feliz, porque es así como puede mantenerse este sitio. Y déjame solo decir que es muy amable por vuestra parte tomar esa decisión. Habéis sido un gran apoyo y espero que con el tiempo el resto tomen esta misma decisión. ¡Muchas gracias por eso! :)

Well, this website was made for the fans. They are free to share their favourite photos and I’m just glad to contribute to this fanbase. It does sometimes seem quite “unfair”, although that’s not the proper word for this, when pictures are being taken from our gallery and posted on Twitter right away from news accounts. However we tried to explain the importance of supporting the gallery to our users and most of all to the big Twitter accounts and I must say I was impressed by the reaction. I did not expect this much support from them, but I’m extremely happy about it because that’s how the site can survive. And let me just say that it was very nice of you to take such decision. You’ve been such a great supporter and I hope that with time more people will get to your same decision! Thank you for that. :)

En los últimos meses hemos visto cómo habéis evolucionado: un nuevo diseño web, una nueva sección muy interesante (Fashion), el calendario 2016... ¿Tenéis más proyectos para el futuro?

During these past few months, we have seen great developments on your webpage - new web design, new interesting section called Fashion, 2016 calendar…could you shed some light on future projects?

LGN:

Tenemos MUCHOS proyectos en mente, y no tenéis NINGUNA IDEA. Siempre encontramos nuevas e interesantes formas para que nuestros usuarios participen. Nunca fuimos una de esas webs estáticas que solo proporcionan noticias. Siempre intentamos pensar en algo original, como los regalos del cumpleaños de Gaga por ejemplo. Y a pesar de que parezcan "poco originales" hay muchísimo trabajo detrás y siempre hemos estado orgullosos del resultado.

La sección de moda fue una idea mía. Queríamos que fuese más que simplemente un blog acerca de las opciones de Gaga sobre la moda, más como una web donde se viesen reconocidos los esfuerzos de Gaga en la industria de la moda. Y honestamente me encanta, y espero que lo hayan visto (y creo que lo hicieron ya que seguisteis nuestra cuenta cuando teníamos como unos 500 seguidores.)

Como he dicho, tenemos muchas ideas. Ahora mismo estamos trabajando en la renovación de nuestras plataformas con nuevos diseños para la nueva era. Mientras tanto, también tenemos nuevas ideas que seguro que encantarán a los fans. No puedo decir mucho sobre ello, ¡Pero no deberíais perdernos de vista!

We have SO MANY projects on our mind, you just have NO IDEA. We always come up with new interesting ways of involving our users. We were never one of those static websites which provide news and that’s where it all ends. We’ve always tried to think of something original, even the birthday gifts to Gaga are an example. And although that seems quite “unoriginal”, there is so much hard work behind it and we always feel extremely proud with the result.

The fashion section was also an idea of mine. We want it to be more than just a blog about Gaga’s fashion choices, but more like a website where all her efforts in the fashion industry are being recognized. And I honestly love it and I’m hoping that she saw it already (which I think she did since she followed our account when we had like 500 followers!)

As I said we have so many ideas. We’re currently working on revamping both our news and gallery sites with new layouts and getting ready for the new era. In the meantime we have come up with some new ideas which we hope fans will love. Can’t spoil much about it, but everyone should definitely keep both eyes on us! :)

A vuestro nivel está Gaga Daily, ¿Qué tipo de relación compartís? ¿Tenéis contacto ambas webs?

Another great website is Gaga Daily. What type of relationship do you have with them, and is there contact between you both?
LGN:

Por muy triste que suene, no hay relación entre nosotros. Creo que el factor principal es que nos centramos en cosas distintas, nosotros en dar noticias rápidamente y centrarnos en los medios y ellos focalizan en su comunidad y noticias.

Hay muchas más razones detrás, y una de ellas se remonta al 2009, justo cuando empezamos. Desafortunadamente nunca lo olvidaré porque fui la víctima, me llevó a un nivel personal que no se lo desearía a nadie. Después de que pasara en un primer momento, decidí que iba a cerrar la web. Luego me di cuenta de que no era la decisión correcta y que tenía que ponerme de pie y poner un paso de distancia. Hemos estado activos casi 7 años. Definitivamente puedo decir que no caímos y que los deseos de alguno no se hicieron realidad (afortunadamente).

As sad as it sounds, there isn’t any kind of connection between us and GGD. I believe it’s mostly due to the fact that, in the end, we do different things. We’re focused on delivering news and media quickly while they are mostly focused on their community and news.

There are many other reasons behind it and one of them leads back to 2009, right when we first started. I unfortunately never forgot what happened at that time because I was the victim and it took me on a personal level which I really do not wish to anybody. After what happened, at first I decided that I was going to shut my website down. But then I realized that it was the wrong choice and that I had to stand up and take a step away. We have been online for almost 7 years now. I can definitely say that we did not fail and that someone’s wishes did not come true (fortunately).

No solo sois una referencia para los Little Monsters, incluso Lady Gaga os sigue y lee. ¿Qué supone esto para vosotros?

You are not only a point of reference to the Little Monsters, even Lady Gaga herself follows and reads your tweets. What does this mean to you?
LGN:

Significa todo. Ser reconocidos por ella y su equipo apreciando nuestro trabajo tan duro no se puede explicar con palabras. Nos hace sentir como que no hemos perdido el tiempo durante todos estos años. Pero yo se que ella aprecia todos los fansite, pero no tiene tiempo para ir agradeciendoles uno por uno.

Everything. Being recognized by her as a fan site and her team appreciating our hard work is just something that can’t be explained in words. It makes us feel like we haven’t wasted our time during all these years. But I know she appreciates all fan sites out there even though she does not have the time to go and thank each one of us.

¿Tenéis contacto directo con Lady Gaga?

Do you have direct contact with Lady Gaga?

LGN:

Desafortunadamente no, realmente. Pero ella y yo tenemos un amigo en común. Todavía siguen en contacto. Él iba a darme su número de teléfono, pero luego pensó que no era una buena idea dármelo sin consultarle, y por supuesto ella diría que no, ya que Gaga trata de llevar una vida lo más privada posible. Y después de todo yo ni siquiera quiero. Cuando quiero que algo le sea entregado siempre puedo confiar en él, o en otros como Bobby, o el resto del equipo que nos han estado ayudando desde hace mucho.

Not really, unfortunately. But me and her have a friend in common. They are still in touch and all. He was also going to give me her phone number, but then he thought it was not right without asking her and of course she would say no since she is trying to keep at least part of her life as private as possible. And after all I did not even want it. Whenever I need something to be delivered to her, I can always rely on him or on others like Bobby and the rest of the team, who have been helping us for a long time.

¿Os ha concedido alguna vez una entrevista en exclusiva?

Have you even been given an exclusive interview with her?

LGN:

¡No todavía! Ella está EXTREMADAMENTE ocupada para una entrevista. Pero estamos trabajando en ello y esperamos tener una coversación interesante con ella muy pronto.

Not yet! She’s EXTREMELY busy that it’s hard to have her for an interview. But we are working on it and we hope to have an interesting conversation with her very soon.

Cheek To Cheek ha sido una gran etapa ¿Volveremos a ver pronto a Lady Gaga con Tony Bennett? ¿Qué pensáis?

Cheek To Cheek has been a great era for Lady Gaga. Do you think we will be seeing Lady Gaga together with Tony Bennet once again?

LGN:

Definitivamente ha sido una gran era a nivel musical. Prueba de que ella puede ir de un género a otro, y eso es algo que hoy en día no encuentras en todos los artistas. Ella lo necesitaba, si sabes lo que quiero decir. Necesitaba alejarse un poco de sus anteriores álbumes y demostrar a todo el mundo que no es predecible. La mayoría de los artistas se adhieren a un gran género porque es más fácil para ellos. Pero, ser estático es la peor cosa que puedes hacer. Es como cavar su propia tumba.

Estoy convencido que veremos a Gaga y Tony de nuevo. Quiero decir, están preparando otro álbum, ¡Así que estoy con muchas ganas de ver lo que se les ha ocurrido esta vez!

It was definitely a great era on a musical level. It proved she can literally go from one genre to another, and that’s not something you find in every artist nowadays. She needed this, if you know what I mean. She needed to take a step away from her previous albums and prove anyone that she is not predictable. Most artists stick to one big genre because it’s just easier for them. But then again being static is the worst thing you can do. It’s like digging your own grave.

I’m pretty sure we will see Gaga and Tony again. I mean, they have another album coming up so I’m really looking forward to see what they came up with this time!

¿Qué os ha parecido Lady Gaga en American Horror Story?

What do you think of Lady Gaga in American Horror Story?

LGN:

En una palabra: FANTÁSTICA. Yo sabía que ella iba a ser un complemento perfecto para esta serie. SOy fan desde la primera temporada, cuando leí la noticia me quedé como: ¡Oh, Dios mío, esto es simplemente perfecto! Estoy muy contento con el resultado y con la forma en la que se centró en sus dotes interpretativas en lugar de su talento musical. Fue genial 100%, se merecía el Globo de Oro. En realidad estoy esperando a que vuelva en la próxima temporada, incluso un papel más pequeño estaría bien, ¡Siempre y cuando se ajuste a su horario promocional! Estoy seguro de que todo el mundo estaría encantado de verla de vuelta en la serie.

One word: FANTASTIC. I knew she was going to be a perfect addition to this show. I was a fan of it since season 1 and when I read the news I was like: oh my God, this is literally perfect! I’m extremely happy with the result and with how they focused on her acting skills, rather than her musical talent. She was great at it and 100% deserved that Golden Globe. I’m actually hoping she returns to the next season, even a smaller role would be fine as long as it fits with her promo schedule! I’m sure everyone would love to see her back on the show after all.

Su participación en AHS ha sido muy controvertida y con opiniones muy diferentes. ¿Por qué creen que se ha puesto en duda el mérito de ganar un Globo de Oro?

Her participation in AHS has been very controversial and subject to different opinions. Why do you think her Golden Globe award has been questioned?

LGN:

Ya sabes, no puedes complacer a todo el mundo al mismo tiempo. Ser polémico es algo que está en Gaga y Ryan. El resultado fue muy controvertido, y en mi opinión estaba dirigido a desorientar al espectador, o mejor, ponernos a cada uno de nosotros en la posición de preguntarnos sobre nuestra vida, problemas, nuestros puntos débiles y errores. American Horror Story es más que nunca, especialmente en esta última temporada de Hotel. No era una historia romántica, cursi y perversa sobre una chica tímida que conoce a un hombre de negocios con graves problemas mentales. Fue la cruel realidad puesta enfrente nuestro sin mas remedio que afrontarla de principio a fin.

You know, you can’t please everyone at the same time. Being controversial is something that belongs to both Gaga and Ryan. The outcome was extremely controversial and, in my opinion, it was aimed to disorientate the viewer or, better, to put each one of us in a position where we are asked about our life, our issues, our weak spots and mistakes. American Horror Story is more than ever, especially the latest season Hotel. It wasn’t a cheesy romantic and perverse story about a shy girl meeting a business man with serious mental issues. It was the cruel reality put right in front of us with no choice but to face it from beginning to end.

Lady Gaga siempre ha estado muy interesada por la interpretación, desde pequeña. ¿Cuán de importante creéis que es para ella estar en la serie?

Lady Gaga has always been interested in acting since she was a child. How important do you think is her taking part in the series?

LGN:

Fue un reto para ella. Quería demostrar a todos que podía hacerlo, pero primero quería demostrárselo a ella misma. La vida puede ser decepcionante a veces y ella lo sabe muy bien. Estar en American Horror Story fue uno de los aspectos más destacados de su carrera, un enorme "Que te jodan" a los que no creyeron en ella en el pasado.

It was a challenge to her. She wanted to prove everyone she could do it, but first of all she wanted to prove it to herself. Life can be disappointing at times and she knows it very well. Being on American Horror Story was one of the biggest highlights of her career, a huge “screw you” to those who did not believe in her in the past.

¿Cree que AHS influirá en los nuevos proyectos de Lady Gaga?

Do you think AHS will be influencing Lady Gaga´s new work?

LGN:

¡Definitivamente! Ha impactado muchísimo en su vida. Ha aprendido mucho en el set y mientras estudiaba su personaje. Siempre será parte de ella a un nivel interpretativo, pero también a un nivel musical. Todo lo que queda por ver es el resultado. ¡Y yo no puedo esperar!

Definitely! It impacted her life so much. She learned a lot on the set and while studying her character. It will always be part of her on an acting level, but also on a musical level. All that’s left now is to see the outcome of this. And I definitely can’t wait!

¿Veremos en este 2016 aquella "Gaga" de la época The Fame Monster y Born This Way?

Do you think we will be seeing some epic Lady Gaga from “The Fame Monster” and “Born This Way” albums?

LGN:

Si hay algo que sabemos con certeza es que Gaga no puede darse por sentado. Ella no va a hacer algo dos veces, podría seguir un determinado camino, pero el resultado siempre será diferente. Que es también por eso que resulta difícil comparar incluso sus álbumes. Si por épico quieres decir éxito, eso si que es difícil de decir. Ni siquiera los sellos discográficos pueden saber con precisión qué tan exitoso será un álbum o un single. Si por épico quieres decir buena música, entonces creo que podemos estar seguros de que no nos va a defraudar.

If there is something we know for sure is that Gaga can’t be taken for granted. She won’t do something twice, she might follow a certain path but the result will always be different. Which is also why I find it hard to even compare her albums. If by epic you mean successful, well that’s hard to say. Not even the record labels can know precisely how successful an album or a single will be. If by epic you mean good music, then I guess we can be sure she won’t disappoint us.

¿Sabéis alguna información sobre LG5 que aún no podéis decir? ¿Nos podéis dar alguna pista?

Do you know any information on LG5 which you could tell us, or give us a clue?

LGN:

Insinuamos que Gaga estaba trabajando con alguien hace como dos semanas. Ese alguien es Diane Warren y la noticia salió a la luz hace un par de días creo. Están trabajando en dos canciones como sabéis. No estoy realmente autorizado para decir esto, pero una de ellas es una canción a medio tiempo que todavía carece de título. Además Gaga hizo que ella escuchase un par de canciones.

We hinted about Gaga working with someone like two weeks ago. That someone was Diane Warren and the news come out a few days ago, I believe. They are working on two tracks as you know. I’m not really allowed to say this, but one of them is a mid-tempo track which is yet to be titled. Gaga also made her listen to a couple of songs.

¿Habéis escuchado alguna canción de LG5?

LGN:

¿Cómo creéis que se avecina la nueva etapa de Lady Gaga en la música Pop?

What do you foresee to be the new era for Lady Gaga in pop music?

LGN:

La verdad que no estoy seguro. Personalmente espero que siga el estilo de "I Want Your Love", con mezclas de sonidos vintage y modernos, pero al mismo tiempo que suene muy disco. No me espero algo tan colorido como ARTPOP ni tan oscuro como TFM.

I’m not sure, honestly. I personally hope she follows the ‘I Want Your Love’ path, with a mix of vintage and modern sounds, but still very disco-y. I don’t expect something as colorful as ARTPOP and not even something as dark as TFM.

¿Cuándo imagináis que se estrenará el primer single y el álbum? ¿Cuándo os gustaría?

When do you think the new single and album will be released, and when would you like it to be released?

LGN:

Junio sería una buena fecha. Pienso que tendría tiempo de sobra para ultimarlo y terminarlo. No estamos tan lejos. Quiero decir, sí, ella continúa escribiendo, pero ella escribe todo el tiempo y puede sorprendernos con una nueva canción a un par de semanas antes del lanzamientro. Así que no estoy preocupado por ello.

El primer single debería ser lanzado un mes antes que el álbum. Cuanto más tiempo pasa entre el single y el álbum peor, a menos que ella lance unas cuantas canciones mientras tanto, como lo hizo durante la era Born This Way para darle expectación, aunque en ese momento el single recibió tantos elogios que realmente no necesitó ninguna promoción extra.

A good release date for the album would be June. I think she’d have enough time to review and finalize it. I feel like we aren’t that far from the final product. I mean, yes she’s still writing, but she writes all the time and she can come up with a new song a few weeks before the release. So I’m not worried about it.

The first single should come out a month before the album. The more time passes between the single and the album, the worse, unless she releases a few tracks in the meantime like she did during the Born This Way era to keep the hype alive, although at that time the single itself received so much praise that did not really need any extra promo.

¿Qué cree que está planeando Lady Gaga con Intel?

What do you think Lady Gaga has planned with Intel?

LGN:

Pensemos sobre ello. Intel = tecnología. Gaga = creatividad. Y ya sabemos que va a ser “una gran experiencia para los fans”. Así que debería ser algo que sirva de conexión con los fans, algo que podamos usar o adquirir. También hay un contrato entre Intel y los Grammy, lo que quiere decir que habrá música de por medio. ¿Puede que algún nuevo dispositivo? Quién sabe. Trato de conseguir tanta información como puedo, pero el secreto está bajo llave. ¡Así que creo que tendremos que esperar!

Let’s think about it. Intel = technology. Gaga = creativity. And we already know that it’s going to be “an amazing experience for the fans”. So it should be something that interacts with the fans, that we can use or purchase. Also there is a contract between Intel and the GRAMMYs, which means music is involved as well. Maybe a new device? Who knows. I tried to get as much information as I could, but it’s all kept under lock. So I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

¿Piensa que el nuevo proyecto con Intel marcará el inicio de la era de LG5?

Do you think her new project with Intel is the start of the new era of LG5?

LGN:

Pienso que puede tener alguna conexión con su nuevo proyecto, aunque puede que no directamente. Creo que puede ser otro proyecto como la ARTPOP app /PetGa

I feel like it might have some connection with her new project, maybe not directly. And I kinda feel like this might be another project like the ARTPOP app/PetGa.

¿Cree que será otra gran era?

Do you think it will be another great era?

LGN:

Sí, totalmente. Esa es la sensación que tengo. Ella echa mucho de menos la música pop, simplemente no puede esperar para lanzar su nuevo proyecto. Estoy seguro de que está dando lo mejor de si misma.

Yes, definitely. That’s the feeling I’ve got. She missed pop music so much that she just can’t wait to deliver her new project. I’m sure she’s doing her very best.
